Caol Ila is a great whisky and my current fave. For many years I stuck with Lagavulin 16yo, sometimes straying into Laphroaig territory (love the cask strength). A 2004 vintage Caol Ila released by independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Cask Strength Series. Distilled on 8 December, this was aged for 10 years in a four first- and refill-sherry butts before being bottled at 60.1% on 13 February 2015.

Often compared as the Talisker of Islay for it’s salty and peated notes, it is much more than that. They offer a wide and diverse portfolio with a classic aged stated core line (12, 18, 25yo) and some highly praised non peated expressions (15, 17, 18). This Scotch from Islay is tangy and smoky. It's better to add some water.
Angel’s Envy is one of those distillers that just makes consistently great whiskeys. To me, the Angel’s Envy rye is one of the best ryes around, and I loved the 2018 cask strength expression.. Cask strength Caol Ila is absolutely fantastic, and I highly recommend looking for one if you like peat. On a side-note, I feel like my reviews are getting much less descriptive as of late.
